This frozen treat makes a simple and refreshing dessert that tastes like soft serve ice cream. Put peeled and sliced ripe bananas in a freezer bag and keep them on hand in your freezer. This is a great way to extend the life of bananas that are reaching their prime and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time. This can be made in a food processor or a high-speed blender, a regular blender won’t work.

 Ingredients

  • 4 frozen bananas, peeled and sliced into 1-inch rounds

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • 2 tablespoons almond butter or nut butter of choice

  • ¼ cup milk of choice if using a food processor (if using a high-speed blender, omit)

  • Optional toppings: chocolate chips, shredded coconut, chopped almonds, frozen berries

Directions

Place frozen bananas, cocoa powder, almond butter, and your choice of milk in a food processor or high-speed blender. Pulse until the bananas are mostly broken down. Scrape the sides of the food processor then continue processing on high until the ice cream is smooth and creamy, this can take up to 5 minutes.

Either eat right away or freeze for at least 2 hours so that it is hard enough to scoop. Eat plain or top with toppings of your choice.
